Hi there! I need to replace the power converter of my 2001 forest river wildwood. Can you tell me which progressive dynamics converter would be compatible? I can’t seem to find it on their website or anywhere online. Thank you!!

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your RV yourself? What have you tried so far?

I am. When connected to shore power the batteries don’t charge. They keep draining. They only keep their charge if I cave a trickle charger connected to the batteries.

Mechanic's Assistant: Have you tested the battery with a voltmeter? And can you see if it's leaking or not?

Yes. I even replaced the batteries thinking they were bad. These are brand new!

Mechanic's Assistant: Is there anything else the Mechanic should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.

When connected to shore power only the air conditioner works, microwave, and refrigerator… none of the outlets or lights work (unless the batteries are charged)

I see online that folks recommend the brand "Progressive Dynamics" so I was hoping to order one of those but can't find any info on which model would be compatible with my old converter. If not then any other brand I guess would work...If you could help with that, that would be great! Thank you!

That converter is obsolete as it has the Magna Tek markings on it. I would highly recommend you contact a place called Best Converter for two reasons. One they can tell you what would work best for that current model, and they have very good pricing on these, I have talked to many RV owners that have used them and they have all been satisfied. 2. We do not sell parts on this site and anytime you purchase a converter you want to talk to the business to make sure you are getting the proper one because many times these have a no return policy.

Since this converter is obsolete some wiring modifications may need to be done and that would be something to ask when you call. I think you are going to be in good hands with Best Converter, see link below. After looking they do have an upgrade kit, but I would call them to make sure you are getitng the proper one.

Perfect I'll do that!! Thank you so much for your help today!Oh I have one more question... I am remodeling this entire camper. Inside is all finished. Now I plan on painting the exterior. Do you know which paint I should use? Should I sand all the exterior first? Or would a primer be sufficient? If I sand it do I still need a primer? It has a metal exterior.
