Customer: 98 TV. Norcold fridge model 9182. 3-way but I am only interested in running on AC. Propane never used, we live in at fixed location. No error codes. Display lit as working but stopped cooling. No cooling at all. Not sure how to use meter to check board. Two fuses, both good. I think board # is 618574. Where to start?
JA: Just to clarify, what are the exact lights you're talking about?
Customer: Display lights. Steady light showing AC selected. Temperature adjust light appear to be working as they should. No error flashing.
JA: What is the make/model/year of your RV?
Customer: 98 Winnebago RV
JA: Are you fixing your RV yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Sorry, but are you actually reading my text?
JA: Is there anything else the Mechanic should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.
Customer: Yes.They should know that I don't appreciate canned, boiler-plate responses. Thanks.

Hi, I'm Wayne.

I'll be assisting you with this issue today.

Thank you for coming to Just Answer

Your Question is as important to us as it is to you.

I am sorry to hear you are having this issue.

I go offline at 3 pm CST. M-F

Weekend 2 pm CST for the day.

Is the 5 amp fuse on the circuit board blown? If you do not have a meter to check that, just replace the fuse.

That fuse blows normally from a shorted heating element.

If the fuse is NOT blown, the circuit board failed.

I hope this helps you.

You didn’t read my text?
Customer
Fuses are good.

Hi,

I did read your text, don't know how to use a meter to checkboard,

2 fuses are good.

I am asking about the 1 5amp fuse on the board. Checking it with a volt meter

Wayne

Customer
Ohms as good
Customer
Continuity

HI,

OK, then the circuit board failed and needs to be replaced.

Wayne

Customer
If, as you advised, board is bad, what specific board info do I need, number or other, do I need to look for and best place for finding one?

Give me a bit to pull up that file.

Wayne

Customer
Great. Thanks.
Customer
Great. Thank you very much.

Hi,

You are very welcome,

Stay safe and healthy!!!!!

Wayne

Customer
I replaced the board with new one. All lights on inside appear to be working as the should but still no cooling. What’s next to check?

Hi,

Thank you for th eresponse.

Does anything get cold?

Freezer or fridge?

Wayne

Customer
Nothing trying to get cold. Interior light comes on, Display shows no flashing codes. Control panel responds to on/off as well as setting temp and selecting propane or A/C but nothing getting even slightest bit cold.

Hi,

well, I suggest replacing the heater .

Diagram below.

Wayne

Customer
Is there a way to test before I spend more hundreds on a heater, since the board was pretty expensive and didn’t fix the problem?

Hi,

Using your OHM meter the oHMs are 63-65

Customer
I am not versed in using the meter……When I set it at 200 I get a reading of 4.4. Set at 2k I get .69 to .70. I am ohming through the two black wires that say “heater ac”.

Hi,

I am offline for the day,

Customer
The link addresses troubleshooting for the 1200 series. Does it matter mine is 9183?
Customer
9182
Customer
The directions show to ohm the black and yellow wired. All I have are the two black wires going up to the heater/s
Customer
Update: All lEDs are flashing. Manual says “fault within controls” “contact dealer or service center”. Pryor to this there was no codes flashing.

Morning,

If you have all the LEDs flashing,  Yes, you are going to need mobile service to determine the issues,

as most pointed to the control board, now other issues.

Wayne

Customer
Update: I was mistaken-No lights are flashing. The lights indicate that all is well and appear to be working correctly. Can you walk me through step by step the procedure for ohming the heater elements. My board appears to have two black wires coming from the heater elements to the board that would appear to go to two different heating elements. there is no other wire to connect a positive or negative lead in order to check for ohming.

Morning,

I gave that to you Aug 13, testing the heater.

Scroll back up and open the link.

Wayne

Customer
You told me oms to expect but have not yet told me where the correct pints are to ohm sinse I have two elements and only one black wire from each.. I just need to know where to ohm when I can only see one wire each. Thank you

Hi,

This is all I havem, this is all in the book above.

Open the links.

Wayne

Customer
Thanks Wayne, but as I mentioned, my unit is a 9000 series and everything you have provided relates to a 1200 series. The 1200 clearly has four wires. Two black and two yellow. Mine has only the two black wire and no yellow wire, as for that matter, there are no additional wire which are needed to complete a circuit. That is why I am asking “where to go to complete a circuit to check the ohms” I appreciate your efforts but if you do not have the information needed can you switch me to another tech? Thanks

Hi,

I do not know how I went to the 1200 series.

OK, on the 9000 series, 2 black leads on the heater, remove from the board, OHM should read 63 OHMs, if not, replace it.

Wayne

Customer
Is there only one heater and the two black leads are to be ohmed from one to the other? That’s the part that has me confused.

Yes, 2 black wires, and touch the wires to each probe

Customer
Okay

cool.........

Customer
Like this?

Ok, yes you need a new heater.

Wayne

Customer
Can you tell me what to look for? Number etc.?
Customer
A quick search on eBay shows “heater elements “ is that what I will need as opposed to an entire heater?

Hi,

Yes, heater elements,

Customer
Hey Wayne, when unit is on propane does the heating element even have to work?

Hi,

Sorry for the deloay,  Iwas out all day.

Yes, it needs the heating element working for propane.

Wayne

Customer
Thanks. Ordered it and waiting for it to arrive.

OK, sounds good.............
