Customer: Furnace runs fine through 2-3 heat cycles then won't relight. The gas valve opens but doesn't light.
JA: Just to clarify, what are the exact lights you're talking about?
Customer: The gas is flowing but the burner won't light
JA: What is the make/model/year of your RV?
Customer: 98 Coachman Catlina. Atwood 8520 111 furnace
JA: Are you fixing your RV yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I had the furnace worked on 3 years ago. It had a wasp nest on the igniter. I am mechanical. I took the burner out again but saw nothing visibly wrong.
JA: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: no

Hi! My name is ***** ***** I can assist you with this. I may need some additional information from you first in order to give a complete answer.

ok. What do you need

Good evening! Sorry for the delay in someone getting to your question here! It has been crazy busy these last few days. I used to have an RV repair facility and worked on these systems for a living. Please give me a few minutes to type up an answer here for you. And don't be alarmed if I don't get right back to you when you respond. We work on more than one question at a time here when it is busy like it is now. I may be on a phone chat with another customer and those last less than 5 minutes. Your patience is appreciated! Thanks! Randall

The two most common causes of this are low LP working pressure at the tank regulator and a control board that is failing due to a bad solder joint, especially if this is an OEM board. If you can give me the make of your furnace I can add a link to the right Service Manual for you. With that and a 12 VDC test light you can usually track down the problem if it isn't one of the two things I mentioned. Randall

It's an Atwood 8520-111 DCLP 20,000 BTU

Most shops can test the control board and adjust the LP working pressure on the LP regulator if you take it off and into them. If it won't adjust into specs then I would go with a new one by MEC Marshall.
