HelloWhat do you need to know
RV Mechanic: Randall, RVIA Certification replied 2 years ago

Good afternoon! I can tell you that this was way too much amperage being used on that outlet! You can't usually even run the A/C on a household outlet, much less adding a table saw. I hope it didn't damage the compressor. Which thermostat do you have here? Make and model would be helpful. And yes, I would check the overload switch on top of the compressor with a multimeter like you can find at most local hardware stores. About $20 or so and easy to use. We can use that do find out the problem. Randall

I'm not sure of the thermostat
I can pick up an overload switch for a few dollars
I have a multi meter but I'm not able to get up on the camper roof tonightThe compressor hums on low fan speed but not on highThe ac unit is an airxcel 48000 series
RV Mechanic: Randall, RVIA Certification replied 2 years ago

I think picking up a hard start kit would be a good idea as well. And once you are up on the roof we can take some readings on the compressor and see if that shows any damaged. Take a photo of the leads and then take them off and take 3 pairs of reading between the posts. Then take 3 more from each post to ground on the compressor shell and make sure you scratch a good ground spot on there. You don't want to see any readings there. Let me know what you find and we can go from there. I am around here every day. Randall
