2008 Fleetwood Southwind 32V...

2008 Fleetwood Southwind 32V. Plugged into shore power but 120 V outlets will only provide enough power to operate a cell phone or ipad charger or my PC. Will not supp;y enough to operate a small fan or coffee pot. and of course Microwave or TV won't run. 1 of 2 AC units ran last evening, but we shut it down before bed. EMS system says 50 AMPs coming in. Battery voltage is 14.2 V. Clues?

Mechanic's Assistant: Have you checked the Freon level?

?? Freon level? Where and can you say more about why please?

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Fleetwood yourself? What have you tried so far?

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

Hi, I'm Robert. Welcome to JustAnswer. I'm reviewing your question now and will post back with your reply momentarily.

Sorry to hear you are having electrical problems.

IF you disconnect from shore power and start the generator do you get all the power back?

Are you using any adapters or extension cords on the main cord OR are you plugged in direct with no cords and adapters?

Thanks, Robert

Have not tried the generator option yet.
I have a 50 amp cord from the shore power supply running to the surge protector which is then connected to the main 50 AMP coach cable

OK

Please give me a few mins to type a response.

Thanks, Robert

I tried connecting direct to the coach from shore power supply without the surge protector or 2nd 50 amp cord - same negative results
RV Mechanic: Robert, RV Mechanic replied 3 years ago

I would try the generator and see what happens, if you get all your power back then it could be a supply problem or a transfer switch issue. I suspect that possibly you are getting the AC voltage through the inverter and that would make sense if you get all your power back using the generator. The incoming AC voltage will go through a transfer switch and then to the breaker panel. The transfer switch will detect the incoming power source and switch back and forth.

What you can also try on this is shut off all the breakers inside the RV, go unplug the cord from the supply post, shut the breaker off on the supply post and then plug back in, turn the breaker on for the supply post and then turn the breakers inside the RV on one at a time.

Then I would start the generator, if you have voltage try another supply source, if you have voltage with the generator and not another supply source then the transfer switch would be suspect.

Please let me know if you need more help on this.

one more thing - why I am getting enough power to charge my iphone and pc
RV Mechanic: Robert, RV Mechanic replied 3 years ago

Depends if the outlet is 12 volt or AC power, if it is AC power you might have an inverter that takes the DC battery voltage and makes the AC power. An inverter is meant so you have SOME AC power when you are not plugged in are dry camping. Normally a 12 volt outlet would be round plug.

Robert

OF course you could have a loose connection at some point as well and running the generator will tell allot.

it is an AC powr outlet delivering the charge
RV Mechanic: Robert, RV Mechanic replied 3 years ago

OK.... Then possibly you have an inverter that is supplying the voltage. I would try the generator and see what happens.
