I have a 2016...

I have a 2016 Cedar Creek Champagne (EL38). I have it hooked up to shore power at my property. Set Dometic 50-070701-G thermostat to 84 for all three zones a couple of weeks ago (I am in SE Texas, so starting to hit 90 in the afternoons lately). Went in RV last weekend and no power to thermostat. I understand there is a controller unit located between the thermostat and the a/c units? Where would I find it? It is not in cabinet panel with breaker box and other controls. Could I remove it and have it tested for correct operation? All other electrical systems operating normally in RV, both 120V and 12V. Thanks

Have not been able to power up thermostat since this problem was first discovered last weekend. We have experienced a couple of thunder storms the last 3 or 4 weeks. Could it be a power surge problem?

Cedar Creek 38 EL

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your RV yourself? What have you tried so far?

Yes. I have only removed the thermostat from the wall and removed circuit board. No sign of damage on it. I need to locate controller.

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

The rear a/c unit failed last year and was replaced under warranty by dealer. Other than that HVAC system has been operating great until this issue.

Anytime now, I have been flooded with phone calls over the past hour or so. I had a phone call while I was on another call awhile ago, that call coming from California. I guess you were trying to reach me then?

I decided to take unit to dealership in order to not void any warranties. They told me that the comm lines in and out in middle rooftop unit were properly "snapped" into place. However, there was enough play in one of the sockets to cause loss of connection. They re-inserted both connectors and reinforced by wrapping with adhesive tape. Unit working absolutely fine now. Thank you for your help. Your advice was spot on! I am a dyi guy on most things, but thought better of not monkeying around with this and possibly voiding warranty. Since I am an RV owner, I'm sure as the sun rises, other issues will arise sooner than later. Hope to consult you again. THANKS!
