Fleetwood excursion went in shop and found to need wiring

Customer Question

fleetwood excursion went in shop and found to need wiring harness fpr gauges ,speedometer and so forth. when it went in had just under 56000 miles. when i got it back had over 90000 on speedometer. ECM shows 56000. i have my theory but why would that happen?
JA: Have you checked all the fuses? Do you have a wiring diagram?
Customer: it was done by shop and they said everything was checked. wiring was checked by several mechanics but why would it show so much mileage more when wiring harness is suppose to be made up for that 2007 Excursion by Freightliner
JA: Are you fixing your Fleetwood yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: no i had a shop work on that would except extended warranty i purchased
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: no ,just a reason why extra mileage appears now

Hi, I'm Ron and I will be helping you today.
Stand by for a moment while I prepare your answer.

It sounds lie the wiring harness issue has infected the ECM causing the reading to be inaccurate. The wiring harness must have suffered some outside intrusion such as slat from and ocean or dampness. I've also seen rodents do much damage to wiring as well.
