Customer Question

we do need to replace the master cylinder. Any directions or videos?
JA: What is the model/year of your RV?
Customer: 1998 Fleetwood Flair on a ton chevy chassis
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Yes we hope to fix it ourself. Roy is very handy fixing things and mechanically inclined. We just bought it 2 days ago. Brake pedal goes all the way to the floor. Feels spongy. it did not feel this way when we first started home, but half way home over a small mountain started to feel this way. We could drive it home, but very, very carefully.
JA: Have you tried cleaning and oiling the brake pedal's pivot under the dash?
Customer: ??? Looks like it goes from the pedal through the floor. Looks to go straight down to the master cylinder. No, we have not tried cleaning and oiling. The Rv has sat since last year except short run down the road by potential buyers. We thought from sitting long time and then going over the mountain maybe too much too soon for brakes.
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: no.

Hi I'm Wayne

I will help you with this

remove the 2 brake lines, the remove the 2 bolts that mounts the cylinder

fill the new master cyl. with brake fluid, then it comes with 2 hoses in the box

screw them into the ports and put the lines into the brake fluid

then push the cylinder piston in and out with a screwdriver

keep doing this until you see no more bubbles in the fluid

now the master is bleed, and install

I hope this helped you

Not really. We were looking for how to access it. ..from bottom or from top. We did not see it at all when we looked down from the top console in the cab. We found it now. But thanks. You tube video helps a lot.

OK, so you are all set then

Expert:  Randall replied 1 year ago.

Are you trying to adjust the tilt from top to bottom? That is the effect of raising or lowering that part of the room. You usually do this when the top won't close when the bottom does are vice-versa.
