I have 2004 Workhorse 8.1 with Allison trans. The issues I have is when I shift into reverse the cluster does not see this position and flash R and will be in no gear. I have to put it in park and turn the engine off then restart shift into reverse to back up, and not always on the first try. I had replaced the
JA: How old is the transmission? Have you checked the brake switch?
Customer: I replace the neutral safety back up switch 2 years ago and the problem seemed to go away, but the same thing has happened when putting drive.

Customer: 04 bounder motor home I think it is a w22

I would have the neutral safety switch inspected for any issues as these are common to fail even soon after they have been replaced.I would have the wires checked to the switch as well as the connections for any issues as well.
