Customer Question

I have a Generac NP-52G gas generator in my motorhome. It has stopped producing AC power. Red LED flickers at start up, then goes out. Engine stops after 15-20 secs after running. I have replaced the voltage regulator, 12DC Relay and 20amp breaker. Before it quit producing power, the plug from the generator feeding RV power was really hot.
JA: Do you have fuel in the tank? If so, is the shut-off valve open and the fuel clean?
Customer: yes
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: yes
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: the 12vdc relay coil unraveled before this started and shorted out the 20 amp breaker and itself. I replaced both and it work for awhile longer and then the no power issue started. it quit when both AC's were running.
JA: OK. Got it. I'm sending you to a secure page on JustAnswer so you can place the $5 fully-refundable deposit now. While you're filling out that form, I'll tell the Small Engine Technician about your situation and then connect you two.

You need to check the DPE breaker, brushes and slip rings.

Hi Hank,What and where is th DPE breaker located...?
Expert:  Hank F. replied 1 year ago.

The DPE is the Dual Phase Excitation breaker. It is located inside the control box.

Thanks, Hank! I can't find the DPE in the schematics, can you give me a description of what it looks like and can it be reset like a normal breaker? Thanks, Jeff

What are the model and serial numbers of the genset?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Model number(###) ###-####0
Serial Number(###) ###-####
Expert:  Hank F. replied 1 year ago.

That is the model number of the engine, not the genset.

I can't use it.
