We have a Dometic NDR 1292 refrigerator in our fifth wheel.

Customer Question

We have a Dometic NDR 1292 refrigerator in our fifth wheel. What does the device in the refrigerator clamped to the fins do and should it be high or low?

That holds the thermistor which controls the cooling. You can move it up or down depending on what you are looking for, but on a control system like a 1292 you may not need to much. Raise it up if you want the fridge to get colder. It won't make a whole lot of difference. Better to get a Dinosaur Electronics control board so you have an adjustable thermistor. Keep the LP pressure up to specs and that will help on LP mode check the installation to be sure that the insulation is there and that the distance between the coils and the outer wall is not greater than 1/4" or baffling is needed. Hope that proves helpful here. I will add a link to the Dometic Service manual that we use for this model. Print it out so you have it. Lots of good information in there.
