This engine in a RV that is 36' would be underpowered, it will get you where you want to go but towing or pulling any kind of large grade is going to be under-powered, that is the entry level diesel engine you can get as far as HP is concerned so I might try and find something a bit larger if you are going to be pulling allot of hills OR will be towing. The miles really depends on how well the engine maintenance has been performed. IF the engine has been taking care of this engine can last 250K or 300K miles. Really hard to say, most owners will do an annual service that includes the oil, oil filter, fuel filters, lube the chassis etc. IF you are serious about purchase I might pay for a few hours of labor and have a Diesel Tech do an inspection on the chassis.
IF I was going to purchase I would want more HP then 230....
