Is this an LP or gas setup?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Gas
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I was just reminded that I replaced the fuel pump a year ago. I am an old man and my memory is BAD.
Expert:  Randall replied 1 year ago.

How long has it been since you ran this set? IF it has been some time, did you have a fuel stablilizer in the fuel?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It has been about two months No stabilizer
Expert:  Randall replied 1 year ago.

The fuel should still be good then...........this is more than likely a problem with the control board. Does it stay running as long as you keep the start button down?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No I do not want to pay an additional $18.
Expert:  Randall replied 1 year ago.

I didn't ask you for that............or was this a phone chat offer?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No it does not continue to run.Not a phone chat offer
Expert:  Randall replied 1 year ago.

Then you may need to have it tested to be sure, but that is the most likely the cause. It is doubtful the fuel pump would be bad that quickly, unless it was an aftermarket pump. Some of those aren't too high on quality. Did you replace the fuel filter when you put the new pump in? Oil level up to full?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Oil level is correct. However I found that if I hold the start switch down the gen continues to run
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I have a glass fuel filter .I can see that when the gen stops the filter is only 1/5 full
Expert:  Randall replied 1 year ago.

That is a sign that the control board is bad........usually. But sometimes it can be just a bad connection. You might disconnect the battery and then take the board loose at the plugs and plug them back in and clean the positive feed to the start solenoid and the ground strap at both the genset and the chassis. If you still have an issue, then replace the board. I like those after market boards made by Flight Systems. Check out their website. Hope that proves helpful here. Please get back to me later if you still need more on this as all follow ups are included in our fee.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Are you there? I still have the problem.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I assume that the output of the gen supplies power to the fuel pump.what color wire carries that power?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The location of the gen severely limits access to the pump.
Expert:  Randall replied 1 year ago.

I don't think the pump is the problem......did you read my last response?

Expert:  Randall replied 1 year ago.

Power to the fuel pump is from the same battery as is used to strart it.

Expert:  Randall replied 1 year ago.

Just checking back with you............did a new control board fix the problem?
