Customer Question

I have a 1985 southwind motor home. It has been setting for quite a while. I am putting it back in service and am having trouble with the carburetor flooding. It ran great when I stopped using it. I had a mechanic put a kit in and it would still flood when the electric fuel pump was on. I bought a rebuilt carburetor and had it installed and it is doing the same thing.

Hi I'm Wayne

I will help you with this

The reason the fuel pump not to quit, is the float in The carb is set too high

you carb may have been rebuilt for a manual fuel pump,

3-4 lbs, as a electric pump is 7-9 lbs

the float in carb needs to be raised as for fuel to shut off when

bowl is less then 1/2 full

I have the same type of Rochester Quadrajet as the original one. The original one started flooding after setting a long time and it ran just fine for years. I don't think that is the problem.
