Hi, The swhich looks like thisame goes for this motorhome when you drive the batteries charge. There is a battery charging isolator under the front cawing.

RIP ROBERT :

The picture is of a battery isolator used on most coaches

Does this hold true for Winnebago's? do these go bad. the question is how does winnebago set up for recharging batteries when you are on the road. They have two six volt batteries. apparently they are isolated from the battery that runs the coach. That one is a standard auto battery. they are isolated from each other and the coach battery opens the slide. the six volts run the interior. All of them do not charge when driving. I am not very good with vehicle mechanics, am 75 years old and widowed, so keep it simple for me please

To reply to your question accurately I am in the process of downloading the manual of your rv located here following by looking at your as built diagrams if they are available for which I will provide you the links in case you need them in the future. I need to double check something on your coach on how it was put together. I will try and keep thing as simple as possible.

Please do not accept this answer under you are satisified your problem has been resolved. I can always opt out if I am not getting what you need and let someone else try.
So I can get your proper diagrams which model of the adventurer do you have. It should be on the outside of the RV by the front door or by the drivers window or inside next to the drivers seat on the side wall

Its a 34RQ with a ford motor. I can go out to storage tomorrow and get more info off the door if this is not enough

This info is enough to match uo the diagrams. Owners manual only talks about the houese battery, On shore power and gene the house battery is charged and the coach aka chassis battery is not. The chassis battery is charged by the engine only which is typical of winnebago gas models. Now looking to see if house batteries on your model are charged while the engine is running
Well I spent three hours on this and it is a bit wierd. First Winnebago terminalogy and for most of us the coach batteries are the same as what we all also call house batteries and the chassis batteries all refer to what what powers the engine and it other related items. On your ford model the coach/house batteries sure are running the bulk of the items that normally a chassis battery should be doing for some of the coach items. One thing that needs to be drilled out to verify if you can hit the disconnect on the the coach/house side and see if the steps will work and if the slide out move a tiny bit out and in(floor plan shows you to have a slide out) . You should do this with the engine off and then with engine on but only touch the button a bit for the slide so as not to drain the battery. When the engine starts some things are over ridden and switch to the engine side . The other side to the issue that with your model the wc34rq it also came with a chevy engine which was also wired differently for the batteries. They also made a wk34rq which is a diesel and it has a different wiring scheme as well for the batteries. The chevy and the diesel seem to have the coach\house wired to charge off the alternator as well as the chassis batteries. However there is circuit breaker that can be checked. What follows may be a little complicated and will probably need the help of a mechanic friend to look at the diagrams and follow:

For the WCG34RQ Ford chassis wiring diagram please go here when you look at the chassis wiring diagrams on page 2 for the ford chassis they have two battery solenoids one for the chassis and one for the coach\ house batteries. So if I look at the chassis wiring diagrams for the ford side my thought process says coach\house no not connected to alternator for charging just the chassis battery, It is completely wired different than for the chevy engine for the WC line and the diesel line for the WK line of your model.

The body wiring diagram here shows the house aka coach batteries in the front electrical compartment

The body wiring installation is here .

The automotive wiring here has page 3 that shows the ford chassis looks like there is a breaker below the dash pod for the coach\house batteries that might be worth checking to see if it popped. This runs to a battery disconnect in the front electrical box.

The front end wiring diagram for your rv is here

The parts catalog as built for your WC34RQ is here

This about the best I can do with dissecting this out for you and give you some diagrams for your files. The rest of the info you may need for your 1996 coach is located here for manuals and schematics and other related items to your 1996.

If you feel I have not helped please advise so I can opt out and see if we can get someone else to chime in. I rather you not accept the answer or rate me unless you are happy so we can leave it to get someone else to help out.
