That is true..........to a point. Dinosaur Electronics still has control boards and them may be able to repair the optical IF that is the problem. That fridge only works on AC mode and LP mode, but the controls are 12 VDC operated. Be sure that the batteries are in good shape and the cable clean. Go and CLICK HERE for a copy of the Service Manual for this model. I would Bookmark it so you can come back to it. See the trouble shooting section. There are tests that can be run. Go and CLICK HERE for the Dinosaur site. Contact them about the optical repair. Ask for Chad or Guy. There may still be a few optical units out there, but we need to be sure you need one first. If you have a small multimeter we can do some easy testing here. Those can be found at most automotive or hardware stores for about $15 for a digital readout version. If the temp works on LP mode and NOT on AC mode then it has to be the control board. I think if you get a new board you will be good to go. Try American RV in Azusa.
