On these suburbans you can run them on both gas and electric. There should be a small switch on the outside under the cover in the lower left hand corner to turn the electric portion ON, it will work as long as that switch is On and you are plugged into power. The electric side is operated by a heating element on the back of the tank. It will take a good 45 mins for the water to heat on only electric compared to the LP, so if the LP portion was OFF and you used the water, it would take some time for the heating element to heat that water. The electrode will not come on in electric only mode, only for LP. IF you still need help please contact me with more information and we can see what is going on..... Robert
Could be a loose connection or the element is going. You can ohm them out or check continuity. Isolate the AC power, pull the wires off the element and check for continuity or ohms, you should see about 10 ohms I always test them with the water tank empty, you can get different reading with water in the tank... You can also check for continuity from the screw that has the wire going to the ECO and the flange of the element, if you do have continuity then the element is shorted out. You do want continuity between the two screws.....
Yes the board should be fine as that is on the DC side with the LP. And the AC side pretty much comes right from the breaker panel to the element.
