What causes parking brake to stop working in my 2003 condor motorhome?

I have a 2003 condor...

I have a 2003 condor motorhome.I am having problem with parking brake. The dash light
says auto park,but when I put vehicle in park it still moves until I pull out the parking brake
knob on the dash. My question is this, Do I acutally have autopark by using the shifter and
putting vehicle in park or do I always have to pull out button on dash?

Is your Condor built on a Workhorse chassis , or a Ford F53 chassis ?

It is on a workhorse chasis. Originally the rv was brought in with the parking brake not

releasing. Found switch at parking brake actuator leaking fluid. Replaced switch. Also

found relay burned up at reservoir for parking brake fluid. Replaced that relay and filled

reservoir. Reassembled pin in parking brake cable at trans. Activate parking brake with

button on dash. Would not work with shifter. Customer used rv. Drove about 75 miles

and parking brake would not release again. Relay at reservoir burned out again. Install

new relay. Parking brake working with button on dash only. After checking into parking

brake problem with this rv and many like it, The parking brake not releasing is a common

problem. Found another relay in engine comaprtment around ac compressor burned up.

replace this relay and no longer have problem with parking brake not releasing, but still

have problem with parking brake not wroking when trans put in park. Parking brake works when button pulled out in dash, but not with trans shifted into park.

Ok , sorry for the delay

As you know , the yellow knob must be pushed in to allow the shifter relay to work - as the yellow knob switch supplies the pin #30 of the park / neutral switch relay...

If the shifter does not activate the pump at all , then there almost has to be a problem with the park / neutral position switch or the wire harness to the park / neutral switch relay....

It sounds like you have already replaced the park/neutral pos switch relay - as it was burned....The park neutral switch may have been damaged also....

Also , verify that the new pump motor relay is a 70 amp. relay....

See the diagram below as a troubleshooting guide...

Is the park/nuetral switch located on driver's side of trans. Does it slide over the same

shaft as the trans shift cable attaches to? If so, I have already repalced that switch.

Yes , what you are describing would be the multifunction park / neutral switch.
If there is still a problem , then I would check for

12v at #85 relay socket - key on , in park.
a good ground at #86 relay socket
12v at #30 relay socket with key on , yellow knob pushed in
the 12v at #30 should go away when the yellow knob is pushed in

At the relay inside engine compartment I have 12v at #85 socket, a good ground at #86

socket, .31 volts at #30 socket key on, yellow knob not pushed in and 12 v at #30 socket

with yellow knob pushed in.

Ok , on the #85 socket , find out if the 12v signal turns on and off with the shift lever...

According to the diagram , should have 12v in park , and 0v in any other shifter position.

Correct! #85 socket 12v in park and 0v in any other gear. I tried it with yellow button in

and out. Same result!

Ok that is all normal.

The 12v on #30 should go on and off with the yellow knob.

When yellow button out there is .033v at socket #30. When button pushed in there is

12v at socket #30.

Just to confirm the results so far ,

-With the yellow knob pushed in , the park brake pump motor will not activate and release from the shifter being moved in and out of park position ?

Socket #85 has 12v when shifter in park and yellow knob out. 0v when shifter in drive

and yellow knob in or out.

The pink/black wire at the pump relay socket , with yellow knob in , key in run position --is there 12v there in park or drive ?

Test with the relay removed from the socket.

Ok , now do the same test on the yellow / black wire at the green pump pressure switch connector...

If no power there , then do the same check at #87a on the park neutral position switch relay....

If no power there then do the same test for 12v at #30 of the same relay.

If still no power , then double check the relay , make sure it is good...

<p>Should I reinstall the pump relay back in the socket? At the yel/blk wire at the green pump switch I have 12 v. The pump switch is new. 12v at all points #87at park or drive. 12v at #30 park or drive. I had the pump relay back in socket!</p>

It looks like you either have a bad PNPS relay , socket , or poor connection in the wire harness between the fuse block splice to the park , neutral switch and the PNPS relay....

When the shifter is in park , then 12v should be supplied to #85 at the PNPS relay , and take away the 12v to the pump motor pressure switch to apply the park brake.
