I have a 1990 Holiday...

I have a 1990 Holiday Rambler Alumilite motorhome with a HWH Corporation leveling system. the model of the leveling system is AP-5437. The system seems to work fine but the left front jack retracts after a few hours. That seems to me to indicate a hydraulic leak somewhere. The jack is clean with no signs of leakage. Any ideas on what is wrong and how to fix it?

It occurs when the jacks are extended.

Most all the HWH hydraulic systems have extend and retract solenoids on the pump manifold, pretty common if these fail it will allow the jack to creep up slowly. This is an older unit but I fairly certain they used these back then. The Solenoids will be near the pump/motor, they will be round and have wires going into them. Most older ones have T handles (which you want to verify they are all shut). Some also have a spot for a 1/4" nut driver on the cap. When you turn these (counter clockwise) it will allow the pressure to come off and the jacks to raise up. What you could do is lower the jacks, have a second person watching the jacks and crack each handle, mark the solenoid so you know which one is for which. Next if you want to trouble shoot you can swap the one out to another side to see if the symptoms change to that side. You must release all the pressure off the system by turning the T handle or nut counter clockwise about a turn and a half. After that you should be able to remove them. Make sure the hydraulic tank is topped off also, do this with the jacks up, as the fluid gets pushed back into the tank. IF you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to contact me. I went out and looked at the system. There are no solenoids at the pump. This is not an auto leveling system and the hydraulics have to be manually operated based on the lights on the control head or visually from a level. I see four hex nuts on the bottom of the hydraulic valve assembly that is mounted to the left of the drivers seat and accessable from the left wheelwell. There is no sign of leakage on the control head but are you saying it could be leaking internally?

I have four separate three position levers on a single control head mounted on the floor. The three positions for each lever are jack retend, jack retract, and nuetral.

To be honest I am not 100% sure, if THIS is not the system you have I am stumped, I can not find any info on that AP number also. I was thinking you might have had the 210 series, I have only seen one other type with HWH besides the pad, that one consisted of switches and was on a Safari product. IF this is not the correct one, please let me know ASAP I will put your question back up for another expert.....
