VerifiedSometimes people will appear very depressed and then at other times appear stable. Depression as well can improve and decrease over a period of time. One can be more depressed at one time than others. The other possibility is that one is gaining insight by being alone and crying. They may not be open to talking about the issue and choose to handle it in this matter. Sometimes being alone and crying can be cathartic. People will feel better after having this moment and either chooses to not talk about it or feel they don't need to. This can appear to be depression when someone has trained themselves to cry and feel better.
People have different emotions and resolve them differently. People often can feel depressed but overall not be depressed to the point of requiring assistance but others don't need assistance. I would ask her if she wants to talk but if not allow her to resolve this her way. She may feel differently over time feeling that she is ready to talk. Or she may feel comfortable seeking help when she learns she can't address this on her own. I would ask honest questions and see what the responses are. Only press if she is willing to talk about this
