I am talking to a girl and we have been talking consistently for the past 2 months. Over the past week things have been different. Lack of communication and distance. I asked her what was wrong and she told me “that things have been hectic at home, her mother is sick, and just been wrapped in myself getting ready for the semester to begin.” My question is, is this her way of distancing herself from me or is she legit just taking space to prepare?

Hi there. It sounds to me like this person was honest with you - she's got a lot going on right now, and so as a result has less time to spend talking to you. I don't think you need to take it as a sign that something is wrong unless she stops speaking to you entirely, or is upfront with you that she doesn't want to continue your relationship.

No, I think you can let her know you understand and aren't expecting anything, but can continue to check in and let her know you're thinking of her, and that you'd love to talk or see one another when she's feeling up to it.

Thank you for your advice. I didn't want be pushy or come across as if I didn't understand or care about what she had going on. Plus a small portion in head, thought that maybe that was her way of cutting things off. We have never had a argument or anything like that, which is what made my mind start to race. The last thing I want to do is push someone away because of my lack of understanding.

I (USA) and my girl(Costa Rica) met at the end of 2019(She had visited a mutual friend), we became friends, and we were into each other so much. I asked her out, she told me she was not ready for a relationship then. she was in a complicated relationship trying to go through a break up. But she continued keeping in touch even more. After a while...as we continue, we would talk regularly but we would have good conversations when ever she would call me but most times i call she would always claim to be busy. She kept saying she liked me as a special friend but the frequency of calls from her to me told a different story. I did not like the pattern so I created space and cut communication. After like 3 - 4 weeks, she got in touch again even more... I let her in, the communication grew even more... it was both ways this time around August 2020. She opened up about her past relationships and he most recent one which she claimed she was over it. she went to acknowledge she had developed fillings for me. After months of communication, she suggested to come and visit me this December, we did arrange, she came... first one week together things were great but she kept having mood swings here and there esp following us getting intimate. But would confess having a great time with me and intimately. We had a weekend trip and came back, it was all great but after we returned she went on got alittle distant... then she told she wasn't yet feeling romantically attracted to me but she wants me in her life. she feels she needs more time to figure out things.
