Greetings.Welcome to the site.Well your mentioning of she acting out of character while being depressed for a while raises an alarm as this may not be depression after all but some other mood disorder such as Bipolar disorder, where in the person swings between two extremes of mood this citing the reference of two poles, where one extreme is Depression and the other extreme is Mania or hypomania.
