If someone is in a depressive episode, they can absolutely feel as though they’ve lost feelings for someone they previously cared for - a lot of people describe feeling as though they are “numb” and that everything is pointless and worthless. If someone you love is experiencing depression, please encourage them to check in with a doctor or a therapist to help them get through this. If properly treated, they often feel similar to the way they felt prior to the onset of the depression, although obviously not 100% exactly the same, usually based on how others in their lives have reacted.
