I have an oldish...

I have an oldish Panasonic SA-PM27 and CD eject is stuck.. meaning I cannot get CDs to eject. I' contemplated forcinfg it open because I want thye 5 CDs that are stuck inside. Your thoughts please?

Technician's Assistant: How old is your SA-PM27?

Not as old as me! Probably 10 years old.

Technician's Assistant: What have you tried so far with your SA-PM27?

Turning off power.. leaving for a reasonable time period.. then power up. I hear a noise as though the mechanism is trying to open.. then nothing!

Technician's Assistant: Anything else you want the Video Expert to know before I connect you?

Can't think of anything specific.

Try unplugging it from the power again - in Standby mode - then after about 15 minutes, plug it in again while holding down the Eject button, and power it On, still keeping the Eject button held down, for at least 20 or 30 seconds.

I hope that gets the stuck cartridge or stuck cd disc loose enough to get it to work long enough to get the cds out of it.

If not, then the device may have to be disassembled somewhat, just to get the discs out of it without damaging them. I don't know whether you would want to do this.
