I have a Roku player, model 2050X. Does this model support closed captioning? I have looked and tried everything and I cannot get it.

Technician's Assistant: How old is your 2050X?

It's 4-5 years old.

Technician's Assistant: What have you tried so far with your 2050X?

Following the Roku online instructions, I have gone into settings, but there was no "accessibility" or "captions" option.

  • Press the Home button on your Roku remote.
  • Scroll up or down and select Settings.
  • To open the captions menu, select Accessibility. ...
  • Select Captions mode and choose when captions appear.

Not all channels have captioning. Closed captions are embedded in the show or movie you are watching, they do not come from Roku, but Roku can turn them on if they are available with these steps.

Ok, let's do it during playback. Start a program. Press the * button on the remote. Scroll up and locate Closed Captioning to turn it on or off. Please tell me if this service is available on your Roku device.
