We’re setting up a new Roku. Our Samsung surround sound receiver controls our tv sound. We connected hdmi to tv hdmi slot but no sound. Do we need to instead connect the hdmi cord to the surround sound receiver?

Technician's Assistant: What does your TV screen look like when you try to connect your digital media player? Is there anything at all displayed?

Yes. We’ve been able to see all the roku set up screens but are now on Unable to hear music. Turning up volume does nothing.

Technician's Assistant: Is your digital media player connected to the TV, or is it connected to a power outlet?

The hdmi cable is connected to tv. The electrical cord is in the power outlet.

1. Does your TV has its own sound and is it working?

2. What happens when you are watching regular TV? Do you get sound on your TV speakers or through the music system?

3. Do you have dvd or blue ray that goes through the system?
