I'm creating DVD's from other DVD's on a Windows 10 PC . When I try to play them on a Magnavox DVD player I get "Disc Error".
JA: How long has this been going on?
Customer: Today is first time I tried to make a DVD from another DVD
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: none
JA: The video expert can solve this for you. Anything else you want him to know before I connect you two?
Customer: The DVD I am copying works in the DVD player

Hi, I'm Nathan.

Sorry to hear that you're having trouble with this but I'll do my best to help you.

Can you tell me what discs you are using?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
verbatim 4.7gb,16x,120min
Expert:  Nathan replied 1 year ago.

Are they DVD+ or DVD-

or DVD+RW or DVD-RW?

Okay that is the proper type, but it is possible to get a bad batch of discs, it would help to test another brand of disc, if possible.

Beyond that, you may be using the wrong file type (mpeg2 is the usual standard), or forgetting to close/finalize the session.

I can see and play files on PC. the file type is "VOB".
Expert:  Nathan replied 1 year ago.

Is it just one file?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
no. three different files
Expert:  Nathan replied 1 year ago.

Okay that is normal, as the vob package files cannot exceed 1gb.

So something else is missing here, either you aren't finalizing the disc, or the actual disc just isn't readable by your particular player.

I'd try another disc next, and would recommend a memorex disc type

Need to correct something. I also have tried using FUFIFIM DVD+R disc's. They also didn't work. Earlier today I created a disc on FUGIFILM DVD+R using VLC Media Player from a VHS copy and it played on the DVD player.

I wouldn't expect the + discs to work, most standard players can only take the - discs.

your solution is to change the media brand? To do that I will need to buy them. will take a couple of days
Expert:  Nathan replied 1 year ago.

Well it is a potential solution as well as a diagnostic test, to rule out the possibility of an incompatible disc.
Here is one I'd try:
