In general, if you received a Notice of Violation from the city for a fence that was permitted and built prior to your purchase of the property, you may have legal options to contest the violation.
You may need to consult with a local attorney who is familiar with the relevant laws and regulations in Joplin, Missouri.
But yes, you have options.
Appeal the violation: You may have the right to appeal the violation to the city and present evidence to show that the fence was permitted and built prior to your purchase of the property.
