My husband bought a house before we were married. He was military and is a disabled vet. Our insurance was requiring us to have the roof repaired on the house so he asked me to get for estimates. The first roofer came out within two days. I told him I needed an estimate on my husband‘s house his roof so he went up on the roof came back down. He had a bunch of paperwork and told me that in order for him to give the insurance company the estimate I would have to file a claim. I explained to him that this house is not mine it's in my husbands name and I am not on the insurance. He said it did not matter that I could still start A claim so that he could give the insurance company the estimate. He had me sign some paperwork telling me that the one piece of paper stated that if we were to go with them to fix our roof and they bought materials and we decided to back out and get the insurance money we would give them $3200. The insurance adjuster contacted me and told me something was fishy with this contractor. I explained multiple times to this contractor that I was not the decision-maker. My husband was very upset and decided not to use this contractor. He is Now suing us in small claims court for $3200 because we did not go with him and he says that I signed a contract. The contract that I supposedly signed has no listing of any materials or any kind of price.
