I own a condo in Massachusetts. 8 months ago we went through

Customer Question

Hello, I own a condo in Massachusetts. 8 months ago we went through a legal proceedings and during that time the attorneys for the Condo Association nor the Condo Association ever sent me a legal bill, eventhough I requested one. The legal proceeding had ended and 8 months later when my attorney sent the Association a demand for funds the Association owed me on another matter, the attorney for the Association sent a lien notice with a hand written ledger stating I owed $18,000 in legal fees. Mind you for the past 8 months I have been receiving monthly statements from the Association concerning the regular fees (which I paid),but never received a legal bill. What should I do?
JA: Because real estate law varies from place to place, can you tell me what state the association is in?
Customer: Massachusetts
JA: Has any paperwork been filed?
Customer: No
JA: Anything else you want the lawyer to know before I connect you?
Customer: About 6 months ago when I was late with my regular payment, the Attorney sent me a letter stating that I had an outstanding legal bill. They did not state the amount and when I follow-up with an email requesting a bill they never responded.
