I am sorry to hear about this unfortunate situation.

While I cannot comment on your specific situation, generally, if the home in NY is sold at the foreclosure action for less than what is owed on the mortgage, then the mortgage company / bank can obtain a deficiency judgment and could place a lien on another property owed by the mortgage debtor.
