Customer Question

My husband and I filed bankruptcy March 2011. We never reaffirmed our Mortgage loan,
no payments have been missed ever. My husband passed away in April 2013.
I been pondering getting info on the HARP program to possibly lower my payments,
however I am apprehensive that there maybe problems with the mortgage bank because
we never reaffirmed the loan. Could this create a problem with the bank loan. The
mortgage bank has never been notified of my husbands death.

You need to see if you can to work with an attorney to re-open your bankruptcy case to reaffirm the debt, if you want to apply through the HARP program. You may be able to refinance through other means with our reaffirming the mortgage.
