South Carolina does not have any statutory controls on late fees for rent.

The matter is left strictly up to the parties for enforcement.

If your lease does not have a late fee provision in it, the landlord cannot charge a late fee (no matter how reasonable or unreasonable the late fee is).

If the lease does have a late fee provision, the fee is enforceable (no matter how reasonable or unreasonable the fee may be).
