We live in Los Angeles calif , in a neighborhood called highland park . We moved in March 2015. On 7/31/2015, we received a notice that the apt. Building was now under new management and new owner . They are increasing the monthly rent from 1450.00 to 2000.00 .is this legal and what rights do we have. We are receiving a 60 day notice /agreement ,but we feel this can not be legal???

It certainly does not sound legal. The new owner cannot change existing leases. You didn't say anything about signing a lease when you moved in.
