My HOA is incorporated as a 501(c)(7) "recreational society"

Customer Question

my HOA is incorporated as a 501(c)(7) "recreational society", I believe they are operating under the incorrect nonprofit. as a homeowner i do not receive any special access to recreational facilities or activities. the HOA's stated primary function is to "protect and enhance quality of life and environment" and "delivery of essential community services". this is not as the irs states: "organized for the pleasure, recreation, and other similar purposes". they mostly seem to function enforcing rules and regulations of neighborhood appearance.
