I moved out of the condo a month ago. The security deposit

Customer Question

I moved out of the condo a month ago. The security deposit was 5000$ and the landlord stated that the deposit interest rate is 0.25% (I thought it was 1.5%). The landlord never made an appointment with me to do the walk-thru when I moved out. And now he sent me an expense invoice (proposal) of 5036$. So I owe him $36. I lived in the condo for just over a year and he is claiming that he needs the floors refinished which costs $3000. I think the expenses are very unreasonable and unheard of. what can I do about this?

Hello and welcome! My name is ***** ***** I will try my level best to help with your situation or get you to someone who can.
Were the floors newly installed or refinished when you moved in?
Was there actual damage to the finish on the floors that were a result of your tenancy?
What other unreasonable damages is the landlord claiming?
