Is this a free consultation? I was in the process of buy
Okay. I was in the process of buy property in Richmond Tx. I felt I had found my home. A place out of the city where I could relax and enjoy my retirement. I fulfilled all the lending requirements, pulled money from my 401 K for the 20% down payment and closing fees. I was all set for the closing. I asked all the questions. does the earnest money go towards the closing. Give me a detailed list of everything I am responsible for with closing. Did the house flood? Is it in a flood zone? How many owners has it had? etc. All the questions you would ask, especially after suffering through 'Harvey'. I was told the house did not flood, it is not in a flood zone. I sent all the paperwork over to the mortgage company along with the quote for the home owners insurance. My insurance agent received an e-mail asking for the flood insurance quote. After reviewing the quote sent over by the insurance agent, $2774.00, I learned that the property I am purchasing is in a high risk flood. I was surprised, especially since I asked this question. I had a budget that I was trying to stick to because I am retiring in 2 years. Also, the insurance agent told me that with the changing weather patterns and over development, my flood insurance is likely to increase, while the cost of my home decreases. I'm not sure what I should do. I don't feel comfortable moving into the home because of the risk factor. And I'm not knowledgeable enough in real estate to know if my rights have been violated. Will you provide me with some clarity? … read more
