An Electromagnetic pulse from...

An Electromagnetic pulse from a nearby lightning strike bypassed my surge protectors and, apparently, damaged the USB/Ethernet input circuitry of my Epson Stylus Pro 9880 printer. When turned on, the printer goes through it's start up routine and says "ready". But it won't communicate with the computer. The computer drives other printers ok but it indicates that the 9880 is an unrecognized USB device.

Unfortunately, I have removed the main board from the 9880 printer. I was expecting that there may be a fuze that protected the board from an excessively large pulse. Do you know if there is a protective device (fuze or something else) on the board?

I am not sure. Resetting the printer would've helped us.

Since you have opened the printer up I suggest you to take it to a local printer tech or if you have warranty you can contact HP support and check if you can get a replacement.
