I have a 8400F...

I have a 8400F CanoScan that will not start scanning when I press Preview. It says, among other reasons, "The lamp may not be warmed up".

Technician's Assistant: Are there any flashing lights, symbols, or messages on your camera or display screen?

Yes. a code 2,178,0 and among other possible items for not scanning, "The lamp may not be warmed up". It is in a cold basement and the light comes on and some shifting of the scanning bar when first started.

Technician's Assistant: Have you tried removing and replacing the battery and/or SD card?

What battery or SD card? Not seen any reference to where they are located.

Technician's Assistant: The Camera Technician will be able to walk you through that. Anything else you want the Camera Expert to know before I connect you?

Scanner worked last time I used it extensively on color slides. No changes other then wanting to scan a document rather than a slide and I have made the appropriate changes and then press Intermediate Scan. Have tried putting a heater by it. I am across the room from the scanner so will have to leave the computer to do any modifications.
