Hello,

I am the person that will be helping you today. Before we begin, please, understand that responding to my questions does not cost more. Also, me responding does not cost more.

May I ask how the printer is connected to your system? (usb, wifi, network, etc)

I look forward to your response.

Thank you,
Jason

Network.

May I ask what problem you are having when you attempt to connect to it?

Ask Your Own Printers Question
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
It said printer offline. I then tried to do a simple fix. Online it said to do a simple fix. I went to printer center, then ports, then I unchecked "SNMP Status Enabled".

Are you able to see the printer on the network?

Ask Your Own Printers Question
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
How do I check for that again?

You can open your Explorer window. In the left panel, click the Network option. Do you see the printer there?

Ask Your Own Printers Question
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
Like in the control panel?
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
Or in internet explorer (edge) browser?

I am referring to the file explorer window. You can open that by holding down the Windows key and the letter E at the same time.

Where is the network option?
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
I see one in the left panel . It said, " Network discovery is turned off. Network computers and devices are not visible. Please turn on network discovery in Network and Sharing Center.
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
I am now looking on control panel.

Okay, turn Network discovery on. You can click the pull down option while you are in the network window and choose to turn it on.

Ask Your Own Printers Question
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
I am in the control panel right now.
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
Control Panel > Network and internetis the option to turn network discovery on here?

Go back to the Network folder that I asked you to go to earlier. Then click the pull down message that refers to the option being disabled, and choose "Turn on Network Discovery" and do so.

Ask Your Own Printers Question
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
I found it. Network discovery was turned off.Should I Turn on Network discovery plus "Turn on automatic setup of network connected devices".I just turned on both now.

Okay. Now go back to the network folder. Do you see the printer now?

Ask Your Own Printers Question
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
I see all other printers, except the one I was trying to connect to. I even see other named computers on the network.

Can any computer on the network 'see' the printer?

Ask Your Own Printers Question
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
Working on that

Thank you

Same things for the other computers.

How is the printer connected to the network? (with a network cable or wireless)

Ask Your Own Printers Question
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
I think we were able to remotely access it in the browser with 192.168.1.6/It is called the Konica "PageScope"

Okay. Are you able to access it now?

How is the printer connected to the network? (with a network cable or wireless)

Ask Your Own Printers Question
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
I tried the pagescope on this and the other computer. To no avail. This printer is hooked up to the Ethernet hub. That is in the basement.
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
The computers are also hooked up into the Ethernet.
Lemme check the basement to see if it (the grey cable) is connected down there.

Please, look at the printer display. Navigate to the Settings area and tell me what is set for the Internet IP address.

Ask Your Own Printers Question
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
We looked at the basement. No one but the Verizon guy touches those cables. When I unplug the grey cable from the machine, the solid green light goes out, and the blinking orange one goes out. When it is plugged back in, those lights come on again. It must be connected to where it always has been (it has worked as a network printer for years). Let me look at the printer display.Under printer properties and ports? I have that screen open.

192.168.1.6 for the printer
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
This is for the Konica Minolta Bizhub C250

It appears that it 'should' be working. Have you turned the printer off, unplugged the power cable to the printer, plug it back in, and turn it back on, yet? In other words, have you turned the printer off and on, yet?

Ask Your Own Printers Question

I turned it off, but without unplugging the power cable. Let me try it this time with the power cable out.

Thank you

Okay, can I plug it back in? Can I start up the printer again (Konica Minolta Bizhub C250)?

Yes, please.

Lemme check if it appears in network discovery.

Thank you.

I hit the refresh button in the explorer network discovery page (with the printers and other things there). It did not appear.

Does the printer have the same IP?

Ask Your Own Printers Question
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
There is not reason to believe it changed. It was always static. Could it have changed?

Okay. Is it static? Can you ping the IP address?

Ask Your Own Printers Question
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
How is that done?

May I connect with you remotely to troubleshoot the issue directly? When the remote session begins, we will be able to communicate back and forth via a chat window that will appear on your computer screen.

Ask Your Own Printers Question
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
Lets try without it for now.
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
How do you ping the ip address?

- Hold down the two following keys at the same time: Windows key and the letter R
- In the box that comes up, type: cmd
- Click the Ok button.
- In the black window, type the following and press Enter: ping 192.168.1.6
What does it say, replies or request timed outs?

Ask Your Own Printers Question
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
Okay, it says:Packets sent: 4, Received: 4, Lost = 0 for 192.168.1.6
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
Maximum 12ms Minimum 0 ms, average 5 ms (0% loss)

Okay. So the printer is seen on the network. Test to see if you can print to it.

Ask Your Own Printers Question

Ask Your Own Printers Question
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
I tried printing a Microsoft word document. It is now connecting to the printer. But when it prints, it says that there is an error. It was saying "printing" in the queve. Now it says Error-printing.Does it make a difference that it is a MS Word Document vs the official test print?

It shouldn't make a difference. Are you able to print out a test print?

Ask Your Own Printers Question
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
No

Okay. You asked the question regarding the test print, so I assumed that you tried printing a test print.

Ask Your Own Printers Question

As it stands, you can access the printer by IP, but you cannot communicate with it.

Did you by accident statically assign any other device in the network with the same IP or did the router/modem dish out that same IP? To test, unplug the power to the printer, ping the ip, and then you can plug the printer back in and turn it on.

While the printer's power is OFF, what happens when you ping the IP address?

Ask Your Own Printers Question
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
Lemme try that

Thank you

Ask Your Own Printers Question
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
When printer is off it is 4 packets send, 4 packets received. Do you want me to do it with the grey Ethernet cable unplugged?

Yes, that is what I want you to do. Thank you.

Ask Your Own Printers Question

If it continues to reply, that will explain the problem. It would mean that some other device on your network has the same IP as the printer.

Ask Your Own Printers Question
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
Okay. What is the next thing to do in response to what we have discovered?

Now you need to either find out which device is using that IP address and change it or you can change the IP address on the printer. Does that make sense?

Ask Your Own Printers Question
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
By the way, the printer received data when off. If the machine receives a fax when it is off, then it will print the next time the machine is turned on. I think it is the same for regular printing.

I thought that you pinged it when the Ethernet cable was unplugged. Is this correct?

Ask Your Own Printers Question
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
Okay I did another thing that a video told me to do.I typed in "run"ping KONICA MINOLTA C250/C250P VPSit appeared to have done it so fast, that you can't see it, then the window shuts down really fast.
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
You can't see anything. The cmd window comes up, then shuts down fast.

Yes, doing that will not do anything.

Hold down the two following keys at the same time: Windows key and the letter R
- In the box that comes up, type: cmd
- Click the Ok button.
- In the black window, type the following and press Enter: ping 192.168.1.6
What does it say, replies or request timed outs?

Ask Your Own Printers Question
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
Okay, I pinged it with the cable unplugged. It still sends and receives 4 packets. There is also a separate phone line , in addition to the Ethernet , that supplies the fax data.

Okay. That means that some other device on the network has that same IP. That is the problem. You can either locate the device that has the same IP and change it on that device or you can change the IP on the printer.

Ask Your Own Printers Question
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
Can I right click the other printers to see this?

The device that has the IP may be a printer, a computer, a tablet, a phone, or another device.

Ask Your Own Printers Question

Open a web browser on the network and go to: http://192.168.1.6

When you do that, what comes up on the page?

Ask Your Own Printers Question

How do I find the ip of the other devices?

The device that has the IP may be a printer, a computer, a tablet, a phone, or another device.

Open a web browser on the network and go to: http://192.168.1.6

When you do that, what comes up on the page?

You can find the IP of the other devices by walking over to each device and checking what it's IP address is. If the IP was given by the modem or router, you can check the DHCP list in the modem or router.

Ask Your Own Printers Question
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
It says on the web browser: Cannot reach this page.
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
I think that there is only one other printer on the network. The other printer is not networked.

That means that the device that has the same IP address does not have a web interface. That means that it is probably not a printer.

Ask Your Own Printers Question
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
the other printer does not have a web interface (or at least I haven't been told about it). Should I unplug, or assign the other printer a new ip address?
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
It is a EPSON1C18CC (WF-3640 Series)

No. The printer other IP is not that printer.

You must either locate the actual device that is using the ip address and change it or change the IP address on the Konica printer.

This computer: 192.168.1.14

ok. Please, check all the other computers.

Ask Your Own Printers Question
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
Okay, I found the culprit. It is a computer in the secretary pool. It is 192.168.1.6

There you go. It sounds like your modem or router is setup to give out IP addresses from 192.168.2.x and up. You need to change that or another computer will cause the same problem in the future.

What is the brand and model name of your gateway?

Ask Your Own Printers Question
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
I think netgear. It could be in the basement.

May I remotely connect at this time and reconfigure your gateway so that this problem doesn't happen again?

Ask Your Own Printers Question
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
Lemme try, if I can't, then I'll remotely connect.

Okay, please be careful with that. You only want to change the DHCP assignment values. Change it so that the first available IP is 192.168.1.100 and that the ending IP will be 192.168.1.200

Ask Your Own Printers Question

Is dynamic QOS what we are looking for?Is the netgear what we are looking for, or is it the optimum cable modem that we are looking for?

No. You are looking for "DHCP". That is the only thing you need to find. Do not change anything else.

Ask Your Own Printers Question

You are "looking for" the Netgear. The Modem doesn't have anything to do with this.

Ask Your Own Printers Question
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
I am in advanced setup> LAN setupUse Router as DHCP Server box is checked. Do I uncheck?

No, don't do that. Do you see where it shows the starting and ending IP addresses?

Ask Your Own Printers Question
Customer reply replied 25 days ago
Under "basic" and "attached devices" I see the offending IP address. Why don't I want to turn off DHCP (that assigns default addresses automatically)?

Change it so that the first available IP is 192.168.1.100 and that the ending IP will be 192.168.1.200

Apply or Save settings and you are all done with that.

After that is complete, unplug the power to the Netgear, router and plug it back in. When you do that, it will dish out the correct IP addresses to the computers on the network. When that is complete, you can plug the printer back in and you will be all set.

Ask Your Own Printers Question

DO NOT TURN OFF DHCP. If you do that, no devices will be Given IP addresses by the router.

Only do what I described, please. If you do anything else, I cannot guarantee that your whole network will stop working.
