Is WinZip an HP product? I am having problems with obsolete drivers so can't update? Now I have to pay? My son said I shoud never have to pay for updating drivers? Help

All the updates from Win Zip to Tweak Bit ...things that show up on the screen. But I'm desperate now. My printer won't work and I have tried to update everything repeatedly but still insufficient.

Well it is a driver issue I think...four drivers are not working. I don't know what else they control.

If it is square, then that leads me to believe it is Windows 8 or Windows 10.

The issue is that win zip and tweak bit and others have been telling me to scan. So I have. But what comes up is four obsolete drivers. I do not know what the drivers are for. I thought if I updated them I could print. But my son said I should not have to pay for drivers.

Your son is correct. I recommend avoiding both WinZip and TweakBit. It would be best to uninstall those.

sorry...got a phone call. It is not with the printer. It is with the drivers. Not being protected. Obsolete drivers.

Thank you. While I find the updated driver, could you tell me if you use it wired or wireless? Also, while I am doing this, please do the following:

  1. Click the start button
  2. Click My Computer
  3. Click on "Uninstall or Change a Program" at the top
  4. In the search bar, type "HP"
  5. Uninstall software only related to the printer

Okay, you are good then.

Please click the start button, and then "Printers and Scanners" and remove your printer from the list by right-clicking it and selecting "delete"

Next, please go the the following link and click on "Go"

On the page that appears after clicking go,download the package marked "Important" and install it please. This will walk you through setting up the printer again and install the updated drivers.

I don't think the printer is working....a blue light is on and it normally isn't.

The file should have downloaded to your "Downloads" folder. You will just need to double click the file that downloaded to run it and it will walk you through installation.

Once done, you will just need to try to print

Correct, clicking download downloads the file and then you just need to run the file that downloaded by double clicking it

To get to the downloads folder:

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Computer
  3. Click "Downloads" on the left side
  4. The file will be called "DJ2540_188"

OK...think I did it... Now on that downloads, there are four other drivers that say update and four that say booster? We only did the printer. I am testing it now, but? Should I unplug it and replug it?

It doesn't. Printer is still not working. What about the other drivers that Tweak Bit and Win Zip keep popping up? I saw in the downloads all the other options for booster and drivers.

I'm sorry to seem so "dumb" but I've had a computer since 1984 and they are more advanced than I'll ever need! The drivers the above keep telling me are obsolete are the ones I am concerned about.

I would uninstall those programs. They often tell you you have obsolete drivers to try to get money from you

Everything seemed to be in working order. If I deleted win zip and tweak...why are they still there?

I don't know what is going on. Still can't print. There are now three things waiting to print and I'm trying to download something and it said printer is not cooperating. I only wanted to download it not print it. I only have a little time as I got called into work today. One thing popped up that said I wasn't security safe???

what is the actual problem? what is it that you are having difficulty doing?

out of date drivers usually still work

its just one of those things that companies like to point at to say "oh you need our help your drivers are old"

so if you tell me exactly what it is that you want the computer to do and that it is not doing maybe we can start from there and see what the problem is and how to make it do what you want it to do.

Thank you. 1) I kept getting messages that my drivers were obsolete. 2) we deleted win zip and tweak bit 3) we reinstalled the printer driver and deleted items in the outgoing box BUT, there should have been lots of them as I have been trying to print for days 3) there is one item in printer box that I don't recognize and it won't delete 4) got a message that my computer was no longer secure. Is that enough?

The message is probably an advertisement from somebody that wants to sell you a driver update finder. If it comes up when you are on the Internet I would ignore it

Rebooting the computer should clear the print queue

Or you can hit windows logo key and R

And type services.msc in the run box that pops up and click OK

Find print spooler in the services list that comes up and

Stop and then start it.

That also should clear it

If not stop it then delete the print job then restart it

The message about the computer being not secure is also either an advertisement or your anti virus upset that one of its features is not turned on

I am able to log in remotely and look at everything and get it all working for you if you are willing to pay a little extra. We can speak on the phone and you can show me everything and I will explain exactly what it is and fix it for you
