The drum is probably wearing out, if the print is getting lighter with time at a gradual rate, if the drum is fairly old, and if the problem is most concentrated away from the page's edges.

Replace the drum with a suitable replacement, according to the instructions, being careful not to expose the new drum to direct lighting for more than a minute and a half per half hour or so, and not touching the drum surface either, with fingers or anything else... and the problem should be solved at once.

i ordored a new drum as you suggested.. I am not happy that you offer an answer for $5.00 and then bill me for about $25.00.
if I signed up for any kind of contract I will pay the one-time charge only and will reject any other charges.
