i have a mx892 and I am trying to scan a document, but it says "set the Pc to start scanning" This printer will only scan to a usb drive, which is connected, but it does not work
JA: What is the machine's exact make and model? And can you guesstimate how old it is?
Customer: Pixma Mx892
JA: What kind of computer are you printing from (Mac or PC)? What Operating System (OS) are you running?
Customer: PC...It prints from the PC just fine...but I have a hard copy that I want to scan
JA: How long has this been an issue? What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: not sure...rarely scan..probably not in the last 2 years
JA: Anything else you want the Printer Expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: BTW it does not have the capability to scan directly to the PC, only to a USB drive

I'm sorry about the issue. Is the printer connected to the computer with a USB cable? Or is the connection wireless?

Do you have the MP Navigator EX program on your computer? If yes, can you use that program for scanning?
