OK, is this specific diagram inserted as a picture? If so, when you click on it, does a rectangular box show up around it - dragging the edges of which allows you to resize the diagram?

No - it is a pdf

I see, then are you opening it up from a PDF program instead of Word, e.g. Adobe Reader? Can we go ahead with a free remote session (ignore the paid offer) so I can check it myself now?
