I cannot get my mac to commute with a new canon pixma mx922

Customer Question

Hi- I cannot get my mac to commute with a new canon pixma mx922 Both are connected to the same wireless network and I even connected them via a cable but the computer can't detect the printer
JA: Has your Canon done this before? And can you guesstimate how old it is?
Customer: It is a few months old and has not worked yet
JA: What kind of computer are you printing from (Mac or PC)? What Operating System (OS) are you running?
Customer: Mac Os Sierra 10.12.4
JA: How long has this been an issue? What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: This was an immediate issue. The process goes mostly normally but a note does come up about something to do with the operating system. It still allows me to continue through the set up process, though.
JA: Anything else you want the printer expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: I think that is all okay thank you

Try restarting all devices, including your wireless router.

Reply and let me know if that makes a difference?

Customer: replied 11 days ago.
I restarted everything but ultimately the set up could not properly complete (it still says the printer is installed but neither my phone nor computer can find the printer)

Are you using a static IP address on the printer?

Customer: replied 11 days ago.
The WLAN confirmation screen shows that the printer is actively connected to the network, the mac address and information for bonjour but does not have any other IP addresses listed.

I don't know.

Ok, can you :

1. Start the Canon IJ Network Tool.

2. Select the PIXMA MX922 in Printers.

3. Select Configuration from the Settings menu.

4. Click the Wireless LAN tab.

5. Next to TCP/IP Setup, select "Use next IP address" and enter in the IP address, subnet mask and default gateway addresses.
