what kind of network do you have ?

most do not require the mac address. They just assign an ip address

canons are usually set up most easily on wireless by running the install program on a workstation with wifi access

then connecting the printer by usb

the install program then copies the wifi information to the printer from the computer

then you remove the usb cable and leave it on the network

If you have some sort of security on the network that prohibits that you might get around it by seeing the mac address in a log on the network when the printer tries to connect

or you should be able to print out a network configuration page from the printer menu. That is the only place i can think of that might have the mac address on it.

It is a very secure network and I cannot find a print settings menu.
It is not an expensive printer and I will probably wrap it back up and return it. Never had a problem with HP.Thanks

the higher end HP are designed a little bit more towards large business networks than the canons are.

But these instructions should help

  1. Turn the printer on and load a sheet of paper.
  2. On the printer, select “Setup” from the “Home” screen.
  3. Go to “Device settings” and select it by using the “OK” button.
  4. Arrow over to “LAN settings“, then select “OK“.
  5. Arrow over to “Confirm LAN settings“, then select “OK“.
  6. Arrow over to “Print LAN details“, then select “OK“.
  7. Select “Yes“, then “OK“.
  8. The “MAC address” will be displayed on the paper that prints.

You are welcome. I actually thought you probably were one of the IT guys. It doesnt seem like something they would want the users doing to get through all the security.

Anyway if you appreciate my efforts i would really hope that you will take a moment to give me an excellent rating. Your rating is the only way that i can receive any credit from this site for my work

thank you.
