My printer is out of ink. I just bought a new box of ink but

My printer is out of gray ink. I just bought a new box of ink but gray was not included, so I substituted black. It now gives me a support code showing two inks of the same color are installed.
JA: Just to clarify, have you double-checked the code? And what is the exact make and model of your machine?
Customer: The code is 1681 and the model is MG7120
JA: What kind of computer are you printing from (Mac or PC)? What Operating System (OS) are you running?
Customer: mac
JA: How long has this been an issue? What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: It popped up when I installed the black ink as it would not print because the gray ink was gone.
