have a new hp printer and am trying to set it up to my computer . I need help
JA: Can you guesstimate how old your HP is? And just to clarify, what's the exact model?
Customer: Model is office jet 4650 and is brand new.
JA: What kind of computer are you printing from (Mac or PC)? What Operating System (OS) are you running?
Customer: Mac
JA: How long has this been an issue? What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: I have just taken it out of the box I have installed the ink cartridges and put paper in and plugged it in to electricity and don,know where to next.
JA: Anything else you want the printer expert to know before I connect you?

Connect your printer: Follow the instructions that came with the printer to connect it to the network by following these steps>

Follow these steps on the HP printer please>

Gather the following items:


  1. Network name: The network name is ***** *****

  2. Security passphrase (WEP key or WPA)

  3. On the printer control panel, touch the Wireless icon , and then touch the Wireless Menu icon .

  4. Let me know if this works please.

  5. Touch Wireless Settings, then touch Wireless Setup Wizard.

    The printer searches for available wireless networks.

  6. Touch the name of your wireless network, then follow the instructions on the printer control panel to connect the printer to your wireless network.

  7. Then on the Mac, Add the printer to your list of available printers: Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Printers & Scanners. If you don’t see your printer listed on the left, click Add at the bottom of the list. A dialog appears listing printers on your local network. It may take a minute or two for your printer to appear. Select your printer when it appears in the list, then click Add. If you see a message prompting you to download new software, make sure to download and install it.
