I have an Officejet pro 8600. Error message says printer is

I have an Officejet pro 8600. Error message says printer is not connected. When I restart the printer, it works wirelessly, then next time I go to print, it doesn't and I get the same message. In other words, to print, I have to turn off and on again the printer. I have MacBook Pro with latest updates.
JA: Can you guesstimate how old your OfficeJet is? And just to clarify, what's the exact model?
Customer: Officejet Pro 8600. About 2 years old
JA: What kind of computer are you printing from (Mac or PC)? What Operating System (OS) are you running?
Customer: Mac OSX, Safari, Version 10.0.1
JA: How long has this been an issue? What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: Been an issue for about a week. We upgraded both computers to latest OS X version (lLION??) just before this became an issue.
JA: Anything else you want the printer expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: I'm wrong about the update. It was to OS Sierra, Version 10.12.1

I have added "easy set up" and printed wireless network test page. It says all is working. Yet, when I try to print a page I get an error of "load paper" (it is full and loaded) or printer is not connected.
