Sorry, I don't have enough information on the situation with cartridge and your printer, and so have run out of ideas. Will opt out to other experts. Thanks.

Hello, I’m Nathan, and I’ll be assisting you today.

Sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with this but I’ll do my best to help you out.

Do you have any other cartridges there that you can replace the black with again?
For how long have you been using these cartridges?

Customer: replied 12 months ago.
The only cartridge I have is the previous empty cartridge. Prior to putting the present black ink in the printer switched to using the photo ink and now doesn't seem to accept the new one

Well the current ink cartridge is almost certainly the root of the issue here.

The generic ink products are specifically prohibited by epson, as they tend to have high failure rates (they are defective right out of the box about 40% of the time) and actually cause damage to the printer. As a next step here, it will be necessary to replace the ink cartridge again, preferably with a new genuine epson one. Let me know the results after doing so, please.
